Performance Projects director confirmed as Metrology Network’s next guest speaker

20 February 2018

The benefits of collaboration for high-tech businesses will be among the topics up for discussion when Performance Projects Director Chris Horton appears as guest speaker at the Silverstone Metrology Network’s next event (Thursday 22 March).

Performance Projects has recently expanded from Silverstone Park’s Innovation Centre – where it has operated as a three-strong SME – into 1500 sq ft premises on the estate.

This has been achieved in part by a grant from the Niche Vehicle Network but also because of greater demand for Performance Projects’ work which has seen its engineering expertise successfully take it beyond motorsport into other sectors – chiefly automotive with major input into electric power train packaging and autonomous agricultural vehicles.

Those wishing to book places for the 22 March event should email asap. The event, at the Silverstone Park Metrology Facility (inside the estate’s Innovation Centre), will run from 5.30pm-7.30pm.

The Facility, opened in 2016 by Silverstone Park developer MEPC and managed by Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, is the UK’s only dedicated sub-contract inspection metrology facility. Among its chief priorities is supporting supply chain start-ups and SMEs with business networking opportunities and skills in metrology.

Its Network events regularly attract a full house and previous speakers have included senior figures from Red Bull Racing, RML Group and JRM Group.

As part of his presentation, Chris (pictured above) will focus on the following topics:
·    Evolution of Performance Projects: from start-up in 2010 to now
·    Horizontal Innovation: using skills/know-how to diversify into other sectors
·    Importance of metrology: how it benefits high-tech start-ups/SMEs
·    Why the time is right for greater collaboration among high-tech businesses

“We are a company with big ambitions so this is a fantastic opportunity to raise our profile in engineering circles,” commented Chris.

“The Metrology Network, like the Silverstone Technology Cluster membership, is new and vibrant. Its events draw a very high calibre audience in terms of tech, engineering and innovation.

“Previous speakers have been an eye-opener for us and this is a good way to convey our thoughts, showcase our capabilities and also find partners to collaborate on our many ideas.”
